HI Kings 19:11-12
“The Lord said, ‘Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.’ Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.” The idea that thunder, lightning, earthquakes, wind, and fire announce the presence of the Lord, yet he chooses to speak to us in a gentle whisper was my inspiration. He has all power but has a gentle compassion towards out soul. I have often considered the parallels between a Believers relationship with God and the relationship between a horse and a human in natural horsemanship. I realized the idea of a gentle whisper, speaking to the soul, fully encompasses how people should relate to horses. People have been given dominion over these creatures, and have the power to force submission, but they can instead choose to speak to their horse in a gentle whisper, the way God chooses to speak to us. When you speak to a horse you are reaching for their soul, the very essence of who they are. You can deny them who they are, disrespect who they are, or you can speak with a gentle whisper and reach their soul with genuine friendship. And what I have found is that they touch my soul back.
